Nyctophobia : The Fear of Darkness

When we were young, most of us are afraid to go to dark places alone. We think something is going to happen if we stayed there for too long. Simple things like ordinary shapes and noise turned to be frightening. We can hardly breathe and we start to perspire. Our imaginations are running wild. Our hearts begin to beat faster than the usual and we want to cry for help.

In real life, I suffer from nyctophobia. I refuse to sleep in the dark alone. But if I have to, I leave the lights open and turn on the television until I fell asleep. I refuse to enter dark places and hate blackouts during the evening. I even want to cry and text my neighbor to be with me. But I'm sure I am not the only person who suffers from nyctophobia.

Many people suffer from this kind of sickness. It is common for the children to develop this kind of fear from childhood. And would you believe even large number of adults have this phobia? It is because, as we grow, the fear is still there. Instead of fighting the sickness, we ignore it, and as soon as we know, we have developed a wide range of fear in the dark. We are afraid to cure this sickness because the only way is to fight the fear itself (yeah, it means you have to be brave and stay in a dark place alone and stop imagining crazy things). We can depend on ourselves or we can check on a doctor (which is very expensive) . We have to fight the strong imagination within ourselves and focus on reality.

If you cannot do it by yourself or even with a doctor, there is still a way to cure it. I think this is the most effective way so far and it's free. It is by seeking help with God and by having faith with Him. He is the only one who could help us when we are really hopeless. All we have to do is to believe in Him and pray with all our heart.
